CBD (Cannabidiol) vs. cannabis, hemp, and marijuana

Cannabidiol, sometimes known as CBD, is the second most abundant psychoactive component found in cannabis (marijuana). Although cannabidiol, often known as CBD, is a vital component of medicinal marijuana, it may also be synthesized in a laboratory or obtained straight from the hemp plant, which is related to marijuana. CBD, which is only one of hundreds of components found in marijuana, does not result in a “high” when taken by itself. A study that was conducted by the World Health Organization found that CBD does not display any effects in people that are suggestive of any potential for misuse or dependency. To this day, there is no proof that using pure CBD is connected with any issues that might affect the general public’s health.

Is CBD legal to buy and use?

Cannabidiol (CBD), which is extracted from cannabis, will no longer be classified as a narcotic as of the 30th of August, 2019, according to the Thai Ministry of Public Health. This is part of an effort to make medicinal cannabis use in Thailand more accessible. The threshold for the amount of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) it can contain is 0.01% by weight.

Additionally, it decriminalizes CBD oil derived from hemp (scientific name: Cannabis sativa L. subsp. sativa) that is 99% pure and contains THC at a rate that does not exceed 0.01% by weight.

Under the terms of the Narcotics Act of 1979, CBD oil that is at least 99% pure and is derived from cannabis or hemp and contains just trace amounts of the psychoactive cannabinoid THC is no longer considered to be a controlled substance.

As always, consult official sources first, the laws in Thailand change fast.

CBD health benefits

CBD has been touted as a potential treatment for a wide range of health conditions, but the most compelling scientific evidence points to its utility in the management of some of the most severe forms of childhood epilepsy. These include Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS), both of which are typically unresponsive to the effects of anticonvulsant medication. In a number of trials, CBD proved successful in lowering the frequency of seizures and, in some circumstances, even putting an end to them entirely. Epidiolex, which is the first drug derived from cannabis to be licensed by the FDA for the treatment of these disorders, includes CBD.

  • Anxiety – There is anecdotal evidence that cannabidiol, or CBD, helps ease anxious feelings; researchers and clinical study participants are investigating this claim.
  • Insomnia – According to a number of studies, cannabidiol (CBD) may assist with both getting to sleep and remaining asleep.
  • Chronic Pain – More research on humans is required to back up claims that cannabidiol (CBD) may help reduce or eliminate pain. When applied to the skin, CBD may help reduce arthritis-related pain and inflammation, according to the findings of an experiment conducted on animals and published in the European Journal of Pain. Research conducted elsewhere suggests that CBD may be able to reduce inflammatory and neuropathic pain, both of which are notoriously difficult to treat.
  • Addiction – According to the findings of several studies conducted on people, CBD may help reduce cravings for cigarettes and controlled substances under some circumstances. It has been shown to be effective in reducing cravings for alcoholic beverages, cannabis, opioids, and stimulants in animal models of addiction.

Is it safe to use CBD?

Yes, CBD is commonly very safe to use. As with anything you put on, or in your body, some people may have undesirable reactions. Always check with your doctor first.

Some of the negative effects of CBD include feeling sick, tired, and irritable. Because CBD competes with the liver enzymes that are responsible for breaking down other medications including blood thinners, it may cause blood levels of these other medications to rise. The effects of grapefruit juice and some medications are quite similar.

People who use large dosages of CBD may get aberrant results on liver-related blood tests if the drug is tested. This effect may also be achieved by using a variety of over-the-counter medications, such as the pain reliever acetaminophen (Tylenol). Therefore, if you are taking CBD on a regular basis, you should let your primary care provider know.

Because CBD is largely advertised and sold as a supplement and not as a prescription, there is a considerable safety issue associated with its use. Authority sources such as The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the US, do not currently oversee the safety of or ensure the purity of dietary supplements. Therefore, you cannot know for certain that the product you purchase has the amount of active substances that is specified on the label. In addition to it, the product could have some more unidentified components.

Ganja Goat’s makes all CBD products in-house and without harmful additives, so you’ll always know exactly what you’re getting.

How do you take CBD?

CBD may be found in a wide variety of preparations, such as oils, extracts, capsules, patches, vapes, and topical treatments that are applied directly to the skin. It’s possible that a topical application of CBD, such as an oil, lotion, or cream — or even a bath bomb — is the most effective method for reducing inflammation and providing pain relief in the muscles and joints. Alternately, CBD may be administered directly into the bloodstream via the use of a CBC patch, a tincture, or a spray that is meant to be applied under the tongue.

Sativex is a prescription medication that is licensed for the treatment of cancer pain and muscular stiffness associated with multiple sclerosis in countries other than the United States of America. CBD is the active component in Sativex. Epidiolex has been granted approval in the United States for the treatment of certain forms of epilepsy as well as tuberous sclerosis.
